NEW DISPLAY AT THE GREEN FREE LIBRARY

Who is your favorite comic book hero? Is it Superman? Batman? Or how about Iron Man? If you like comic books, or know someone who does, The Green Free Library is hosting a display of vintage editions, collected over the last fifty years by a library patron.

Since the late 1930s when the American comic book came into print, these colorful pages have been, bought, read, swapped and collected by “kids” of all ages.
You will recognize publishers like Marvel, DC Comics, and Dell, along with creators like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers, to name a few.

Stop in during the next month to revisit a childhood past-time, or perhaps spark an interest in a new hobby. The highest price on record paid for a comic book is $350,000 for Marvel Comics No. 1, published in 1939 under the name, Timely Publications.
