FIRST THURSDAY WRITERS GROUP

The writers group will meet this Thursday, April 1st at The Green Free Library and that's no foolin'! Whether you are an accomplished author, or a budding novelist, stop in and join the group. This round-table format discussion and critique is led by Joe Keleher (who has something special to share with the group this week)! Writers meet upstairs from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM and all genres are welcome, though writers must be at least 17 years old due to possible subject matter. Bring up to three pages of your work to share, preferably with copies for everyone. Don't worry, library staff will be available to copy for you before the meeting, and cost for writers group members is paid for by the Friends of The Green Free Library.

SIGNS OF SPRING!

Finally! Even though the temp outside is freezing, Spring has sprung. Thank you Madalene Axford Murphy of Wellsboro for sharing these inspiring photos with us here at The Green Free Library, and allowing us to share with everyone out there. It is only a matter of time (hopefully days if the radio is to be believed) before we see a rise in temperatures and Spring bursts forth in all her glory.

PHOTOS WANTED!

Happy Spring from The Green Free Library!!

The calender says Spring is here, but everyone in Tioga County knows anything can happen. Just to keep the hope alive, I am looking for photos from anyone in the county showing signs of Spring. Please send digital photos saved in .jpg format to thegreenfreelibrary@gmail.com, or drop off a print that I can scan. All photos will be posted to the blog, and will include patron's name and town.

The above photo was taken by moi, in front of the Gmeiner. Technically it was the second sign of Spring that I have seen, but those darn robbins are just to fast for me!

NEW DISPLAY FEATURING TURNINGS BY WALT COLTON

The Green Free Library is pleased to display these beautiful turnings by Mr. Walt Colton. Many residents and former students of Wellsboro will remember Mr. Colton as one of the Industrial Arts (Shop) teachers at the Wellsboro Area High School. He retired from teaching in 1997, but has not stopped practicing his craft. Using woods with exotic names such as Tulip, Purpleheart, Honduras Mahogany, and Cocobolo, and more familiar ones such as Maple, White Oak, Cherry, Redwood and Butternut, he has created some truly exquisite pieces. Also on display is a needlepoint footstool, worked by his wife Diane Colton. Stop by soon and view this display anytime during regular library hours.
