Teen Book Club July 22

The teen group will hold a book discussion in the library’s upstairs conference room. The informal discussion will be on any books read surrounding the “Going Underground: Beneath the Mainstream” theme of subcultures which includes steampunk, steampunk, alternative/indie/underground music, survivalist, environmentalism/vegetarianism and gaming.

Need some suggestions? You can find a themed booklist on the Teen Book Club group page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/404844872892059/). If you didn't read anything that fits the theme this month, feel free to come anyway and talk about ones you've read in the past—or find something to add to your booklist!

Instead of a craft, the group will be having a book swap! Bring in five or so paperbacks you are willing to part with and leave with a few someone else has brought in. There will also be snacks from one of the library’s vegan cookbooks.
If you are a teen and can't make it to the library at that time, a discussion post will be available on the Teen Book Club group page as well (https://www.facebook.com/groups/404844872892059/). Please join the group for more information on the teen book club (invite your friends!).

The library will be giving away movies during the summer program—book discussion participants (including those who post on the group page during the 6-7 p.m. time) will be entered in a random drawing to win a movie related to the discussion theme. Everyone who reads at least 1000 minutes by the end of the program will be eligible for the grand prizes. Paper reading logs can be picked up at the library or you can log your minutes online.

The summer reading programs at the Green Free Library, Wellsboro, support the PA Forward initiative, created by the Pennsylvania Library Association and supported by businesses throughout the state. Specifically, the programs support basic and information literacies.

This segment provided by Bryan G. Robinson as submitted to the Wellsboro Gazette!
