THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

Ads showing support for any political party or religious group are not posted by myself or any member of the staff of the library, but are provided by Google.

Please be aware of possible bad weather that may hit the area this week. Fines will be waived only if the library is closed, but try to renew items before they are overdue since there has been amble warning of the impending storm. If the library closes, every effort will be made to announce said closing, but if the power is out that may be difficult.

The Green Free Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. Visitors please note that all parking is "on the street", except for one handicapped access parking spot behind the library that is shared with the Gmeiner. You must have the appropriate permits displayed to park in this spot.

MONDAY OCTOBER 29, 2012

There are no special events scheduled for today. Look for your 2012-2013 appeal letter in the mail, or pick one up at the library. Remember-all donations are tax-deductible!! Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. The library also accepts donations of gently used books (hard cover and paperbacks), except for encyclopedias, Reader's Digest condensed and pitdated textbooks. PREPARE FOR THE COMING STORM

HOW TO PREPARE FOR “FRANKENSTORM” , “A.K.A.” HURRICANE SANDY
(NO RELATION)

1. Return or renew all library materials before the storm.
2. Stock up on new books. DVDs are optional, if the power goes out you’re out of luck.
3. Send in that check for the annual appeal. (You know, just in case!)
4. Buy extra pet food if you have pets. (see *)
5. Stock up on canned goods, batteries, flashlights, candles, lanterns (any light source that you can read by), don’t forget some fruit so no one gets scurvy. (oh, and extra tp just in case you have to eat all the fruit before it spoils. )
6. Buy extra ketchup*. Just in case you have to eat them before they eat you! LOL

Seriously though, make sure you are ready, just in case we actually do lose power or get 12 inches of snow. There has been sufficient warning to lay in supplies and batten down the hatches. If the library has to close it will be announced, but if there is no power (no radios, no TV, no Internet), there is no message. We all know that Tioga County is a funny place. One area can be without power for days, while a few miles away the lights just flicker.
