THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

The Green Free Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. Visitors please note that all parking is "on the street", except for one handicapped access parking spot behind the library that is shared with the Gmeiner. You must have the appropriate permits displayed to park in this spot.

MONDAY

Today is Monday, March 26, 2012. It is a damp and dreary day in Wellsboro compared to last week. There are no special events scheduled for today, but it is the perfect day to come in and browse the shelves for an old favorite, or check out a new title. Yes! We have finally gotten some new books added to the system, along with about 15 DVDs and a few audios. More to come. I will post a list as soon as I figure out how.

TUESDAY

The BOOK STORE will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Prices are amazing and there are many titles to choose from. Books will be re-stocked at the end of every session, so make it a habit to stop in regularly.

This is the final week of the March buy 2 get 1 free Mystery book event. Things have been slow, but there is still time to stock up on some great used books and support the local library. ALL money from the book store comes directly to the library!

WEDNESDAY

Story Time will begin at 10:15 AM in the Children's Room. Come have a blast! This week's theme is Outer Space. Even though I was dissapointed when Pluto was demoted, there are still a lot of great planets, asteroids, comets and alien life forms out there to explore.

The BOOK STORE will be open from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Adult knitting will meet in the library at 3:00 PM. Feel free to drop by and get some instructions, or just knit with some good company. Knitters of ll levels are welcome, and yes, talking is aloud in the library.

THURSDAY

The BOOK STORE will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Kids knitting will be held upstairs in the library beginning at 3:30 PM. Adult supervision is provided at all times, and knitters of any level are welcome. If you don't have your own needles, Wanda Short (facilitator) will provide beginner needles and yarn if you want to take a stab at it. Donations of yarn and knitting needles of any size are always appreciated, and will be put to good use.

FRIDAY

Friday is another quiet day with nothing extra planned for the week. Please remember that the library does close at 5:00 PM on Friday, as it has for several years. Make sure your children have a ride pick them up before, or at 5:00 PM as staff can not be responsible for leftover children.

CHANGE OF LOCATION

The Adult knitting group that meets at The Green Free Library has become so popular, it has outgrown its spot in the library. Beginning Tuesday, March 20, 2012, the Adult knitters will meet next door in the Gmeiner. There is still plenty of room for new knitters to sharpen their skills, so drop by at 3:00 PM and see what the point of knitting is!

MONDAY

No special events are scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2012. This is the perfect time to stop in and check out books on planning a garden, or building a new deck to help enjoy the coming summer sunshine. The library has books on gardening in the traditional sense and organic for both vegetables and flowers. Herb gardens are also a tasty way to get some excercise and save money as well.

Speaking of excercise, Spring is a great time to start a new exercise program, or even a new diet. The back wall of the main room of the library holds many current titles, as well as golden oldies that always seem to come back in fashion.

TUESDAY

The BOOK STORE will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Prices are amazing and there are many titles to choose from. Books will be re-stocked at the end of every session, so make it a habit to stop in regularly.

The Book Club will meet at 6:30 PM in the reading area of the library. This week the book to be discussed is "The Leftovers", by Tom Perrotta. This book club is for adults who enjoy reading and discussing somewhat unusual picks.

THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

The transition to the new Evergreen system is still in process. There have been a few bumps along the way, but nothing as bad as the last time we switched systems at The Green Free Library! (So far at least.)

Hopefully everyone remembered to turn their clocks ahead on Sunday, March 11. The library will be open normal hours this week. That means Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Tax forms are still available if you haven't completed your 2011 tax returns yet. We have several Federal forms, and some of the State forms on hand for free. Other Federal forms may be copied from a reproducible book, or printed from the Internet for 10 cents (single-sided) or 15 cents (double sided) per copy. State & local forms may also be printed from the Internet.

MONDAY

No special events are scheduled for Monday, March 12, 2012. This is a good day to come in and browse, or to get some assistance learning to access the new system from home.

TUESDAY

The BOOK STORE will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Prices are amazing and there are many titles to choose from. Books will be re-stocked at the end of every session, so make it a habit to stop in regularly.

WEDNESDAY

Story Time will begin at 10:15 AM in the Children's Room. This week the theme will be St. Patrick's Day. Even though it's not the official holiday, better wear green just in case there is a pesky Lepruchan hiding in the book bin.
