THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY JUNE 24-29, 2013

The Green Free Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. Visitors please note that all parking is "on the street", except for one handicapped access parking spot behind the library that is shared with the Gmeiner. You must have the appropriate permits displayed to park in this spot.

Summer is here! The library has air conditioning and very cold water in the drinking fountain. Please remember that no other food or beverages are allowed in the library, especially near the computers. Also, please turn all cell phones off, or put on vibrate before entering the library and do not answer then inside the building.


Registration is still open for Teen and Adult Summer Reading programs. Please click here to register on line, or come to the library for a paper registration form.

MONDAY JUNE 24, 2013

There are no special events scheduled for today. The new book club selection is available for pick-up for book club members. The next title to be discussed is In the Sanctuary of Outcasts by Neil White. The discussion will take place in the library on July 16, 2013 at 6:30 PM. New members are welcome. Just stop by and sign for a copy of the current title, or read your own and come to the meeting! It is recommended that participants be 17 or over however, due to subject matter and open discussion.



TUESDAY JUNE 25, 2013

The BOOK STORE will be open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.


A program on Marcellus Shale will be held at the library at 6:00 PM. If a large crowd attends, the program may be moved to the Gmeiner.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 26, 2013

The SRP continues! Lot's of kids are really diggin' it! All events begin at 10:15 AM. Preschoolers )PreK) meet in the main room of the library. Kids in K-6 meet at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center. Please come early enough to sign-in and get situated so as not to disrupt the presenters, or other participants!

Today, PreK will enjoy stories about dinosaurs with Roar,Dinosaurs!

K-6 kids will learn how fossils and rocks are made with Julie Weaver in Fossils & Rocks. They will also make a fossil to take home.


The adult Knitting Group will meet at 3:30 PM in The Gmeiner (the art center behind the library). Knitters of any level are encouraged to attend. Help will be available for those new to the craft.

EXPLORING MARCELLUS SHALE

RiverQuest, a non-profit educational organization, is presenting a program at The Green Free Library on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 6:00 PM. The presentation will examine the what, how, where and why of hydraulic fracturing, the basic science behind the extracting of natural gas and the many sides of occurring issues from environmental to economic.

This is a neutral program funded by the DEP and the EQT Foundation, and the library is only hosting the event.

Pre-registration at the Circulation Desk is appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome. You may also call 570-724-4876 during normal business hours of 10:00 AM-8:00 PM Monday thru Thursday and 10:00 AM-5:00 PM Friday and Saturday. Parking is on street.

No food or drinks, please.

It's almost time to Dig Into Reading at The Green Free Library! The Summer Reading Program begins soon.
Registration is now open for Pre-K and children going into grades K-6. Please come into the library to register.

The BOOK SALE will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Staff will be putting out additional items all week so plan on visiting often.

The booksale ends today! There are still some great titles going at great prices. Most adult hardcover (fiction & non-fiction) are just $1.00 plus tax. Papers backs are 25 cents and 50 cents. Kids books are 25 cents to 50 cents. There are several special items that are selling at a higher price, but well below market value. Now would be a great time to stock up on books to read,give as gifts, or start your own business selling online.

There will be a special sale between 3:00 PM and closing. Bring up to 4 sturdy, cardboard boxes and fill them with regularly proced items for $20.00.

The booksale continues. There will be a special sale between 3:00 PM and closing. Bring up to 4 sturdy, cardboard boxes and fill them with regularly proced items for $20.00.

BOOK SALE AT THE GREEN FREE LIBRARY WELLSBORO PA

There will be a a book sale inside The Green Free Library and on the porch from June 7-14 during normal operating hours. Items include hard and soft covered books, and gift items. The garage located behind the library will also be open with audio books, music CDs, videotapes and non-fiction paperbacks. There will be no parking behind library on Friday or Saturday. Proceeds from the sale go to the purchase of new items and operating expenses for the library.

Please do not drop of any donations of books or other items at this time as library staff will be busy elsewhere. Cash donations will be accepted at the circulation desk, and are tax-deductible!

The library is located at 134 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Cash and checks (with valid ID) are accepted. The library does not take credit cards or debit cards, however arrangements can be made for Paypal payments for donations or book purchases. Hope to see you there!
