More than 900 Tioga County Pennsylvania children participated in a county-wide event as part of Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Young Child program on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. This event was arranged by the county’s public librarians in cooperation with the school districts in the county. School students and preschoolers from local day care centers were invited to attend.

During the event, author and illustrator Suzanne Bloom read two of her stories, The Bus for Us and A Splendid Friend, Indeed. At the end of each program, teachers were presented with copies of Bloom’s book, The Bus for Us, which they gave to each child in their class. Copies were provided by grants from the Packer and Taber foundations
One Book, Every Young Child is made possible through a collaboration of various agencies, including the state Department of Education and the state Library Association and is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the state's Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
