RECENTLY ADDED DVDS

Over the last several weeks The Green Free Library has been fortunate enough to be able to add the following New DVD titles to its growing collection:

Sherlock Holmes


Warner Bros. Pictures presents in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Silver Pictures production in association with Wigram Productions, a Guy Ritchie film . This movie was produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey,and Dan Lin. It was directed by Guy Ritchie. It was originally released in theaters on December 25, 2009, and on DVD by Warner Home Video on March 30, 2010.

The screen story was developed by Lionel Wigram and Michael Robert Johnson ; while the screenplay was written by Michael Robert Johnson , Anthony Peckham and Simon Kinberg. It is loosely based on characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Running time is 128 minutes and the MPAA rating is PG13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some startling images and a scene of suggestive material. Parents click here for additional information.

Summary from WebPAC: After finally catching serial killer and occult 'sorcerer' Lord Blackwood, legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson can close yet another successful case. Where the Wild Things Are


Warner Bros. Pictures presents in asociation with Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, a Playtone/Wild Things production, a Spike Jonze film . This film was produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Maurice Sendak, John Carls andVincent Landay. It was directed by Spike Jonze. The screenplay was written by Spike Jonze & Dave Eggers ; based on the book of the same title written by Maurice Sendak and published in 1963. This motion picture was released in theaters on October 16, 2009, and on DVD by Warner Home Video on March 2, 2010.

Running time is 101 minutes and the MPAA rating is PG for mild thematic elements, some adventure action and brief language. Parents click here for additional information.

Summary from WebPAC: Max has an active imagination, who will throw a fit if others don't go along with what he wants. Following an incident with his sister Claire and her friends, Max throws a tantrum when his mother pays more attention to her boyfriend than to him - runs away from home. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination. This world, an ocean away, is inhabited by large wild beasts, including Carol who has the same temperament as Max. Instead of eating Max like they normally would with creatures of his type, the wild things befriend Max after he proclaims himself a king who can magically solve all their problems.


New Moon



Summit Entertainment ; Temple Hill production in association with Mavrick/Imprint and Sunswept Entertainment . This film is produced by Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt and directed by Chris Weitz. The screenplay was written by Melissa Rosenberg. It is based on the Young Adult novel of the same title written by Stephenie Meyer. It is the second in a series of four titles in the Twilight saga. (Hint: READ THE BOOKS, they are so much better than the movies.) The motion picture was released in theaters on November 20, 2009, and on DVD by Summit Entertainment March 20, on 2010.

Summary from WebPAC: Darren is a regular teenage kid. He and his friend Steve find out about a Freak Show coming to town and get tickets. Steve and Darren think that it is all a joke until a vampire named Larten Crepsley comes on stage with a very poisonous spider that he makes do tricks. Steve tells Larten he would like to join him and become an apprentice.

Fox Searchlight Pictures presents an Informant Media/Butchers Run Films production. This film was produced by Robert Duvall ... [et al.] and written for the screen, produced and directed by Scott Cooper. It was just released on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on April 20, 2010.
