WELCOME FALL!

The weather is changing as quickly as the leaves. Speaking of leaves, The Green Free Library has several books and pamphlets available if your child has to complete the dreaded "leaf identification" project, routinely assigned by local teachers. Even if you don't find a book on the shelf, be sure to ask as we have some great resources tucked away in the old-fashioned vertical file, or go online for some new-fangled ones.

Just a reminder, the Book Club will meet in the main room of the library tonight at 6:00 PM to discuss the latest read. The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeir(Vintage; 2007),definitely makes you stop and think, yes, soda is bad for your health! Read the book and you'll understand. If you would like more information about the book club stop by the library, call 570-724-4876 or E-mail me at thegreenfreelibrary@gmail.com.

Also, Story Hour for infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers will begin tomorrow, Wednesday September 23, 2009. Both programs begin at 10:15 AM. Please be on time so as not to disruppt the programs. Registration is appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome.

Finally, letters are going out soon for the annual appeal. As many of you know, the State budget is looking particulary bleak for all public libraries mext year. Please help support the library and help it retain as many services as it can, the governemnt has definiely let us all down, despite the deluge of letters, E-mails and phone calls that were received from library patrons all over the state. Remember all monetary contributions are tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt. Also, The Freinds of The Green Free Library will also provide a receipt for all books, DVDs, CDs, and Videos donated for the booksale to be held in June. Just count the number of each, separating the number of hardcovers from paperbacks, and ask at the circulation desk for a receipt. It will be up to you, or your accountant to attach a monetary value to the donations, but it is usually based on fair-market value easily found on the Internet.
