PICTURES FROM THE SUMMER READING PROGAM

Please enjoy these pictures showing presenters and activities during the 2010 Summer Reading Program at The Green Free Library!

Monday, August 9, 2010

This is a quiet week at The Green Gree Library. It is a great time to just come in and read, or look at books. I am on vacation, but will be adding a list of new books soon.

The Summer areading Program is over! I will be posting pictures shortly, as soon as I recover from a wonderful trip to Maine and the Lobsterfest taken with Benedict's Bus Service.

THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

Wednesday, August 3, 2010 will be the final event of The Green Free Library's Summer Reading Program. Bring a beach towel or blanket and get ready for one funtastic Beach Party! This week's program will begin at 11:00 AM instead of the usually time, and both groups will be outside (weather permitting). Food, games and prizes will be from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by the Bruce Weaver Puppet Show. Rumor has it Bruce has an all new show just for this year based on the "Make a Splash at Your Library" theme.

Thursday, August 4, 2010

The First Thursday Writers Group will meet at its usually time (6:30 PM-7:30 PM) upstairs in the library. Sadly, the group must bid farwell to its originator and instigator, Mr. Joe Keleher. Joe has accepted a new teaching position in Africa. The group will be taken over by another long-time member. Unfortunately, I only know her name is Vickie and hopefully someone from the group will give me an upate.

THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

WEDNESDAY

Summer is ebbing faster than the tide, but there is still time to jump in and Make a Splash at The Green Free Library. The last official program will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. PreK will meet in the library for A Whale of a Good Time with Beverly Smith. Grades K-6 will meet in the Gmeiner for An Utterly Otterly Day with Audrey Patterson. As always, the time is 10:15 AM, but come earlier to sign in so you don't disrupt the programs!

SATURDAY

If you like to dress up, and you like to attend tea parties, join The Friends of The Green Free Library on Saturday, July 31, 2010 for Miss Mazie's Party between 2:00-3:30 PM at the Gmeiner.

This year the Friends are inviting you to bring along your favorite American Girl doll to join in the festivities. The Friends have invited their own special guest, Rebecca Rubin, the newest American Girl historical doll. She lived in New York City in 1914. Tickets will be on sale during the party, and at 3:00 PM there will be a drawing for Rebecca, and a second drawing for a gently used white fold away doll bed. Drawing tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.
