IT'S SNOWING

Photobucket

News flash! It's snowing here at The Green Free Library in Wellsboro, PA. For more than an hour the white stuff has been coming down. Thank God it's not sticking. It is way too early, though I do remember years where there has been snow on Halloween, but today is only the 27th.

BEAUTIFUL PAINTED CHINA ON DISPLAY

After the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition, China painting became the pasttime of thousands of women throughout the country.

White China blanks were purchased, paints were applied, and the pieces were fired in small gas fired kilns.

The partial and completed pieces on display at The Green Free Library through the end of November were painted by three women from Knoxville between 1916 and 1930. Stop in soon and see these beautiful works of art. Maybe your relative painted some, or you are lucky enough to own a piece of your own.
