THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY 11/4-11/9, 2013

The Green Free Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday & Saturday from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. Visitors please note that all parking is "on the street", except for one handicapped access parking spot behind the library that is shared with the Gmeiner. You must have the appropriate permits displayed to park in this spot.

The library is now accepting donations of gently used hardcover and paperback books. Please no textbooks, encyclopedias or magazines! We would also appreciate it if books are placed in sturdy boxes or at least doubled plastic grocery bags as they have to be carried downstairs to be sorted and packed for sales. There is a large bin on the side porch where donations can be placed at any time.

There are no special events today. The annual appeal is in full swing! If you don't get an envelope in the mail, additional copies are available at the circulation counter. WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 06, 2013

Pre-K Story Time will be begin at 10:15 AM in the Childrens' Room at the library. The theme for the November 6 session is: Things That Go


The adult Knitting Group will meet at 3:00 PM in The Gmeiner (the art center behind the library). Knitters of any level are encouraged to attend. Help will be available for those new to the craft.



THURSDAY NOVEMBER 07, 2013

The BOOK STORE will be open from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM in conjunction with the Wellsboro Growers' Market next door (which has moved inside the Pres. Church).


The First Thursday Writers Group will meet upstairs in the library at 6:30 PM. Writer's of all genres and levels are welcome, but must be at least 17 years of age to atttend due to possible adult content. Presentation is in the round table format, and participants may bring up to 3 pages of their work to share. Copies may be made before the meeting, and are paid for by The Friends of The Green Free Library.


There will be a Children's Health Programpresented by Melissa Farenish, a community outreach specialist with Amerihealth Northeast, from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM in the main room of the library. This program supports the PA Forward Initiative, created by the Pennsylvania Library Association and supported by businesses throughout the state. The topic is common childhood illnesses-what to do when your child gets one, how to treat at home, and when to call a doctor. Illnesses addressed include: fevers, colds, stomach aches, and ear infections in children from birth through elementary school.

LIBRARY CLOSING EARLY TUESDAY OCTOBER 15, 2013

The Green Free Library will be closing early tonight at 6:30 PM. Internet computers will be shut down at 6:15 PM.



The Friends' Annual Wine and Cheese Reception will begin 7:00 PM. After a short business meeting to elect officers and to finalize the 2014 budget,journalist and author Michael Capuzzo will reveal secrets of his next book, The Perfect Murder: A Scientist, a Socialist, and the Shaping of Modern America.

Mr. Capuzzo is also the co-owner of Mountain Home Magazine, along with his wife Teresa Banik capuzzo (both current residents of Wellsboro) and George Bochetto of Philadelphia.
