THIS WEEK AT THE LIBRARY

Are you looking for something to do on a crisp Fall afternoon? Stop by The Green Free Library (Yes, we are OPEN on Columbus Day)! Normal operating hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday thru Thursday, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday & Saturday. We have books, newspapers, mgazines, movies, audiobooks in three formats and Internet access, including free Wi-Fi!

WEDNESDAY

Story Hour begins at 10:15 AM. Two programs are available. Infants and children up to three years of age meet in the Childrens Room. Children between three and five years old gather in the Main Room.

Knitting Club for adults of any level, including beginners, begins at 3:30 PM.

THURSDAY

Knitting Club for kids ages ten to 16, again all levels are welcome. Beginner needles and yarn are available if you just want to learn.

THE HISTORY OF THE CORNING GLASS FACTORY IN WELLSBORO

 

The Friends of The Green Free Library will be sponsoring a free program on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at The Green Free Library (134 Main Street Wellsboro, PA 16901). The History of the Corning Glass Factory in Wellsboro will be presented by Wellsboro native, Pat Davis.
Pat will present a brief history of the building from the time it was erected in the late 1880s until the present. She will also discuss how it has affected our community over the years, as well as how time and technology have affected the plant. Stories about some of the workers, including her father, will also be shared.

 

The Friends Annual Meeting/Wine and Cheese Event will follow.

The First Thursday's Weiting Group will meet on Thursday, Sept 7, 2010-UPSTAIRS as usual from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The new facilitator is Vicki Locey. Please bring up to 3 pages to share with the group in a round table format (if you wish). Copies may be made before the meeting and are compliments of The Friends of The Green Free Library.
